String Art

Musica Popular Latina, folk music from South America, is the title of a recent program created by violinist Istvan Kuruc and guitarist Harald Kühn. Two virtuosos invite their audience to participate in a musical journey which will take them to the rich musical culture of Venezuela, Brazil and Argentina.

Waltzes, Milongas and Tangos show a most attractive mix of American Indian, African and European influences which have shaped the cultural and social life of Latin America until today.

Istvan Kuruc, Violin

Istvan Kuruc, son of Hungarian parents, was born in Novi Sad and had his first violin lessons when he was six. In Yugoslavian Federal Competitions, he received several awards (the first one was given to him when he was only seven years old). After his summa cum laude graduation from Zagreb Conservatory, he continued his studies with Szénási Károly, Budapest, and joined master courses directed by Yfrah Neaman, London, and Henrik Szering, Geneva.
Performing as soloist and chamber musician, he had several concert tours in Germany and abroad. His recordings for radio programs and studios include productions for EMI Electrola.
